Starting again in a new country isn’t easy.
But as our consultant, Tarik Curkus, explains, being part of our expert Salesforce team has been an important part of his refugee journey.
The 36-year-old and wife, Etka, 30, were forced to leave their home in Istanbul, Turkey to seek a better life in the UK, in September 2020.
Following a stay in Greece, they travelled to London before being resettled here in West Yorkshire.
He’s just celebrated his first year as part of the Art of Cloud – and it’s fair to say our team has really benefitted from having Tarik on board.

Tarik says: “I think having a good job is the most important thing to start a new life in a foreign country.
“Leaving my home behind was hard, you do not know how things will work out, if they will work out but being able to work has made things feel easier.
“When I was living in Istanbul I studied Economics at Istanbul University. Then I worked as an import and export executive and became a Salesforce Administrator in the same company.
“We realised we would have to leave Turkey because of persecution.
“Firstly, I moved to Greece. This part was the hardest. I had to leave my country, home, family and friends.
“I lived there for one year. Then I came to the UK with my wife, London at first, for about nine months, then the Home Office moved us to West Yorkshire.
“After moving here and completing one year in the UK, I applied for a work permit.
“As an IT worker I was able to apply for jobs. I had worked with Salesforce before so Art of Cloud felt like a good prospect for me.
“It is very meaningful for me to be accepted here. I feel really comfortable at work. My friends in the company are all very warm and welcoming people. I want to thank them.
“I’m still studying and learning new things “Now the future feels promising again.”
